Education is the ultimate tool for opportunity, but in 2026, that tool requires a screen and a connection. At KILT, we walk alongside more than 13 000 children every year. Our mission is simple: provide these learners with the resources they need to discover their potential.

The KILT Digital Drive is our direct response to the resource constraints facing our partner schools. We aren’t just looking for donations; we are building a sustainable, community-powered engine for digital literacy.

The circular power of the revolving technology hub

KILT operates a revolving technology hub – devices that are donated are reconditioned, refurbished, and loaded with high-quality educational resources before being added to a central pool.

They are then rotated through our partner no-fee schools as mobile learning tools. This system ensures that every laptop or tablet remains an active teaching aid, receiving regular maintenance and software updates from our dedicated eLearning team.

Real impact: The eLearning success story

Your “pre-loved” devices are the hardware behind some of Knysna’s greatest academic success stories. Our eLearning programme has become a flagship of engagement, boasting a 78% attendance rate among participants in 2025.

The impact was clearly visible last year at Rheenendal Primary School. Previously, distance and logistics made it nearly impossible for these learners to access LEGO Robotics and Coding lessons. By using repurposed tablets and donated tech, KILT launched a localised club that changed everything:

• National recognition: Learners from Rheenendal and Knysna Secondary School (KSS) qualified for the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) national finals in Pretoria.
• Silver certificate: The KSS team placed 21st out of 42 teams in the country.
• Confidence and growth: Beyond the competition, these clubs help children  build 21st-century career skills from the ground up.

Data-driven results: Why your support works

We track everything because we know that targeted interventions create systemic change. When you contribute to the Digital Drive, you are supporting a proven model of success. According to our 2025 Annual Report:

• Academic leadership: KILT-affiliated schools achieved a 92% matric pass rate in 2025, outperforming both the Western Cape and National averages.
• University readiness: Within our Tertiary Launch Programme, 90% of participants qualified for a bachelor’s pass, nearly double the national average of 46%.
• Maths and Language: Grade 3 maths pass rates have improved by 21%, while Grade 9 language pass rates have soared by 49%.
• Teacher Support: With KILT-funded posts, we have successfully dropped the teacher-to-learner ratio from 1:39 to 1:33.
• Innovation: Schools are now hosting their own provincial “Innovation Days,” merging maths and technology to change the educational landscape.

• Tablets and smartphones
• Accessories: Chargers, keyboards, mice, and routers

A note on security: For your peace of mind, all donated technology should be wiped for security purposes. If your team is unsure how to perform a secure data wipe, our eLearning tech team is ready to assist you.

Logistics and collections

• Local Donors: KILT can facilitate device collections within the greater Knysna region.
• National Donors: If you are located outside of Knysna, we kindly ask that you cover the cost of delivery to our hub.
