KILT-sponsored School Governing Body (SGB) posts for teachers and support staff continue to be a mainstay of its educational programme.
The objective is to reduce overcrowded classes, improve the quality of teaching and help decrease absenteeism among learners.
The benefits of reduced class sizes and more supervision can be seen in Knysna schools’ improvement in the systemic tests run by the Western Cape Education Department.
“The KILT staff are really making a difference at our school,” says Harriet Heins, Principal of Sedgefield Primary School. They are involved in all aspects of the school. If we didn’t have the staff, we would have overcrowded school rooms and no assistance in large classes.”
